Hello,
I'm looking into setting up a small, 2-Line, internet only, mixed hardware/software VoIP system. The server will reside in my location on my 2mbps up/down SDSL One line will be based from our Canadian location. It won't have a gateway attached to it, calls will be handled using PC audio. The second line will be in my location, and I wish to use a hardware gateway, as to have a phyiscal phone to access. I want to set up this network with Open Source, but I'm willing to pay license fees for commercial use if required. A big requirement, however, is that I be able to distribute a software application for our users to call the two locations, with no cost to us or the users. We do not need to worry about expansion that greatly. The maximum number of lines we would ever need would be 4, and I don't see needing to add another one for a while. But we really need to get this working quickly. We don't need ability to use the regular phone system, accessing a PBX. Only internet-based calls. Thank you. Edited to add: It's not required that I use a gateway with an existing phone system, I am open to using an IP phone that doesn't need a gateway. Last edited by Nelan : 03-24-05 at 12:33 AM. |

I don't know if I got your needs :
But here we go: you just need to install asterisk PBX server which support H323,SIP,IAX protocols at the same time. Asterisk support the PSTN gateway through PCI cards and/or wildcards which support E1/T1 connection, another simple solution for the PSTN (phisycal line) to use sipura 3000 with one FXS port and one FXO port (one for the telphone unit, and one for the telphone line) , you could connect the PSTN line to the asterisk very easy with simple configuration lines in sip.conf, please checkout this URL : http://www.voip-info.org in Asterisk, the sip/iax known as a built-in channels which means that you can depend only on asterisk to use these channels, H323 depends on openh323 library which means that you have to install third-party software to support the h323. if you are new in voip, asterisk has alot of information and documintations that can help you undrestand the voip in real world. if you need this to be setup, I can help you giveing some advices regarding the most problems, it's for free .. just join me in msn at: fahad@alaren.net . cheers.. Fahad |
