What IXC Softswitch gives you is:

Very often providers choose more complicated solution that allows to
save on VoIP traffic. Scheme with gateway and billing allows you
to work with several VoIP providers only, for example, one is for national
calls and another one is for long-distance calls. Deploying IXC billing and
softswitch into this scheme allows You to cooperate with more providers
and to work with Least Cost Routing. In this case, for example, you will
have several separated providers to most requested destination with
high traffic (for example, to China, Europe, Bangladesh, Russia) and
several worldwide expensive providers. Such routing scheme allows
you to deal with local VoIP providers in most locations and save on
major traffic destinations.
