    Hello,

I would appreciate if somebody can tell me the procedure to configure 2 Quintum ASM200 to do simple H323 VoIP calls. The gatekeeper will have a static public IP and the gateway will be behind a linksys ADSL gateway (Dynamic private IP and a Firewall) that is connected to the public IP network with a static public IP.

What I did is setting the external NAT IP in the Quintum gateway to the static public IP of the Linksys gateway, and setting the Quintum gateway IP to DHCP, and disabling the firewall in the linksys. But I was not able to make a call to the gatekeeper sitting on the public IP network. Any help would be really appreciated.

You can either reply to this post directly or to my email tareq.kayed@gmail.com

    Regards,
    Tareq Kayed

    Tareq,

So you have one tenor behind your NAT and the other on the public IP. I would suggest that for the unit behind the NAT, you make the private IP static as well. I am not sure how you would tell the linksys to NAT from public to private if the tenor's IP is set to dhcp. Try setting as static on private side as well, set your linksys to map the public to the private of the tenor and try again.

You may want to manually do port forwarding for each range of ports. I had to do this with dsl modem. Even though I put the tenor in the DMZ, the calls did not work still and I ended up doing port forwarding and that works.

If you need to, you may contact me directly at mike_voip@hotmail.com and we can discuss this further.

    Thanks Mike,

I will try it, thanks. But would would be the ports that I have to open from the linksys side? Is it just 1720?

    Thanks again,
    Tareq

There are many ports. You can find all the ports from quintum on their web site by searching for the NAT document. I believe it is located at
    http://www.quintum.com/support/xplat...rewall-NAT.pdf

Basically I opened up all ports from 1700 to like 20000 for both tcp and udp. Yes, others may get on here and say that is way overkill, and it is, but I do not run any other services and since I do a lot of different testing, I want to make sure that I do not have a problem when testing with customers.
